Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Oxygen Therapy

Asbestos is a dangerous mineral that can cause many terrible lung conditions when inhaled. Asbestos exposure has been a national health concern for nearly half of a century, as asbestos is a direct cause of asbestosis, mesothelioma, and lung cancer. Materials made of asbestos were used in an astonishing variety of products for decades, despite the known health hazards associated with this material.

What is Oxygen Therapy?

When a person’s lungs are impaired, it hampers their body’s ability to deliver oxygen to its tissues. This can result in weakness and tiredness. If your body is not getting enough oxygen due to a lung condition caused by asbestos, it can lead to heart or brain damage.

Oxygen therapy is the process of using machines to increase the amount of oxygen your body is receiving. Oxygen purifiers increase the concentration of oxygen in the air, and the oxygenized air is typically delivered through a tube fastened to a person’s nostrils or through a face mask. Oxygen therapy helps:

  • Prevent organ damage
  • Reduce breathlessness
  • Fight hypoxia
  • Reduce tiredness

Typical room air contains 21% oxygen. Oxygen purifiers increase the amount of oxygen in the air to between 30% and 35%, which is typically enough to be effective.
