A man from Pittsford has admitted to violating asbestos removal laws and he has recently plead guilty in front of a federal court.

According to court records, the 38-year-old man violated the Clean Air standards when he was supervising a Irondequoit renovation project.

The man allegedly hired a contractor to remove the asbestos from pipes in the building, but the man was not licensed to do so. The court records show that the man knew that there was asbestos in the in building that needed to be removed.

Asbestos lawsuit blames Texaco in man’s death

The family of a man that died of mesothelioma on June 27 has filed a lawsuit against Texaco alleging that the man was exposed to the asbestos while he worked there.

Austrailian man awarded $1 million in asbestos settlement

A man that was exposed to asbestos nearly 40 years ago has now been awarded $1 million in mesothelioma lawsuit.

According to the lawsuit, the 62-year-old man was exposed to the toxic material in 1972 when he worked at James Hardie Factory. The man worked as a machinist in the asbestos sheeting factory. The man claimed that he was not warned of the risk of asbestos exposure or given a mask to wear.

The jury found that James Hardie did not take the appropriate care to prevent him from being exposed to asbestos, which caused him to develop mesothelioma.

Private school fined for asbestos violations

The Environmental Protection Agency has fined a private school in New Hampshire after failing to meet the requirements set by the agency when dealing with asbestos management.

According to the EPA, the case stems from 2008 when it was found that the school failed to notify the school community that there was asbestos in two of the buildings. The Monadnock Waldorf School has paid $3,096 fine and there is still over $7,000 that still needs to be paid for.

There has been some asbestos removal done in the past, but the toxic material remains in some of their buildings. The school was charged with Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act, which states that administrators need to conduct regular inspections and notify school workers and parents annually on the status of asbestos.

UK woman settles mesothelioma case after death of husband

A woman from the United Kingdom has recently been awarded compensation after her husband died of mesothelioma after working in a cigarette filter factory.

A Texas woman’s family is claiming that their family died after wrongfully contracting mesothelioma from washing her father,  husband and son’s work clothes.

Two men charged with illegal asbestos handling

Two men from Massachusetts have been charged and plead guilty to illegal asbestos handling in violation of the Massachusetts Clean Air Act.

The two men work for Northeast Demolition and Removal and were charged with this violation after they ordered to have parts of a building torn down after asbestos was found. A licensed asbestos contractor found the asbestos, but the two men did not properly dispose of the carcinogen before beginning the demolition project.

Once asbestos becomes airborne, it can be very harmful and can lead to lung cancers such as mesothelioma.The two men were sentenced to two years of probation and were ordered to pay fines.

Painter awarded sum in asbestos suit

Baltimore building fined for asbestos violation

According to Maryland environmental officials, a $1.2 million fine has been given by a judge to  Baltimore building over asbestos violations while renovating.

This case is now the largest asbestos fine in Maryland’s state history. These asbestos violations were found by an anonymous complaint in 2007. The Department of the Environment said that inspectors found asbestos-laden material being shoveled into a garbage shoot and an open bin.

Employees were also not wearing the appropriate clothing while controlling the dust. Inspectors ordered the work to be stopped and the licensed asbestos contractor was brought in.

South Florida Bridge May Be Contaminated with Asbestos
