Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Biopsy Method May Diagnose Mesothelioma Better

In Osaka, Japan, researchers studied the difference between the use of standard flexible forceps (SFF) and an insulated tip diathermic knife (IT knife) in biopsies. The researchers biopsied 20 subjects who had some sort of pleural effusion.

The study found that diagnostic results were effective in 17 of the 20 patients, 85%, when using the IT knife. This compared with effective diagnosis in 12 of the 20 patients, 60%, when using SFF.

Using the IT knife may diagnose mesothelioma far more effectively, allowing treatment to occur in earlier stages. If you would like to know more about mesothelioma and possible treatments, you can contact us through the website, www.mesothelioma-asbestoshelp.org.
