Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Asbestos found in Chattanooga church

The Central Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee has been demolished after facing a number of issues making it more cost-effective to tear it down rather then to renovate it.

The building’s structure was sound, but lead-base paint and asbestos were used when building the church. The building was also damaged by a fire several years ago. The church building was dedicated in 1909, but has not been in use in recent years. Asbestos exposure is directly linked to the development of mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer. Mesothelioma can remain dormant for up to 50 years and 3,000 new patients are diagnosed with mesothelioma each year in the United States.
