A Michigan Navy veteran dies of mesothelioma at age 69.
The man was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2009 and it is believed that he was exposed to it during his 20 year service in the Navy. During those twenty years, asbestos regulations were very weak and many navy vessels used asbestos materials.
After he retired from the Navy he went to work for a nuclear power plant until his retirement in 1995. After he was diagnosed with mesothelioma he and his wife had hoped that surgery would be able to take out the cancer, but it had already spread too far.
