The pedestrian bridge of the Waller Creek section of Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas will be closed due to asbestos removal.
The bridge will be closed between April 19 and April 29 from the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. People will be allowed to use the bridge during other hours because the asbestos is underneath the bridge. The handrails and decking are not affected by the asbestos.
The renovation of the bridge is part of a larger project in the area. Officials tested materials on the bridge to comply with state, local and federal asbestos regulation laws.
