The Miami Science Museum shut down on Thanksgiving after asbestos was found at the planetarium.
The entire museum is expected to remain closed all week even though the asbestos was only found in the mechanical room of the planetarium.
The planetarium was built in 1966 when asbestos was commonly used for building materials. No asbestos was found in further renovations of the museum. A number of holiday events that were scheduled to take place at the museum have been canceled.
