Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Canada Continues to Mine Asbestos

Asbestos has been known to be linked to mesothelioma and other health problems since at least the 1970s, and the use of asbestos in the United States is small and heavily regulated.  Canada, however, continues to mine and export from Quebec, a point of much debate in the Canadian parliament.  Steven Harper’s government continues to offer government subsidies, while Nathan Cullen, a Member of Parliament from British Columbia, has introduced legislation to ban the sale and mining of asbestos.

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 90,000 people around the world die every year from asbestos-related disease.
