A community in Florida is concerned about exposure to asbestos after the  finding of the toxic mineral while working on a road project.

The toxic mineral was found in the community of Whiskey Creek while working on Summerlin Road project  and the residents are seeking answers. Students and Teachers Concerned After Asbestos Found in School

A Pennsylvania home, where a vocational school was taught, has teachers and up to 100 students concerned for the risk of developing mesothelioma or asbestos cancer after finding asbestos in the home.

According to instructors, the administration of the school new of the threat of potential asbestos in the school.  Many schools and homes that were built in the 1980s contain asbestos because it has the ability to withstand fire and high temperatures. Asbestos Removal Planned for New York School

A $273,000 renovation has begun on a high school in Kingston, New York, and one of the main requirements of the project is the removal of potentially hazardous asbestos from the school.

Before the Kingston High School auditorium renovations can begin, school officials have charged the Meyer Contracting Corp with the abatement of asbestos to help prevent the spread of harmful asbestos fibers during the demolition and renovation of the building.

Man sues 38 companies in asbestos-related lawsuit

A man recently sued 38 companies claiming they are responsible for his exposure to asbestos and development of an asbestos- related disease.

The man worked as a carpenter and believes he was exposed to products containing asbestos. He stated in his lawsuit that even after knowing the dangers of asbestos the company didn’t stop manufacturing the asbestos-containing products.

The man complains that the company failed to notify him of the dangers of asbestos in a timely manner.

Asbestos removal causes closing of building

The Dunn building, which houses many Berkley County officials in West Virginia, is expected to close for asbestos removal.

The asbestos was found around the skylight of the building. The removal will be apart of a construction project that will cost $4.3 million. They will be changing the skylight and roof of the building.

Officials say that the work will be monitored closely and they will reopen as soon as it is safe.

Australian Doctors Develop New Mesothelioma Treatment

A group of doctors in Australia has developed a new type of mesothelioma treatment, which they say will extend the life expectancy of patients suffering from the disease by an average of two years, up from the current expectancy of 18 months.

Like many new treatments in the field of mesothelioma oncology, the new method from Australia is a mix of surgery and serious radiation treatment. It was developed in part by a radiation oncologist at the Austin Health Centre in Victoria.
