Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Asbestos claims lead to bankruptcy filing

EnPro Industries, a diesel and dual-fuel engine maker, said one of subsidiaries has filled for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in North Carolina court.

The bankruptcy filing was made so that the subsidary, Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC, could deal with asbestos-related personal injury claims. Garlock is seeking to implement a plan that will permanently resolve all asbestos-related claims.

So far, Garlock has processed more that 900,000 asbestos claims and along with their insurers has paid nearly $1.4 billion in settlements. Garlock was founded in 1887 and produces and sells high-performance fluid-sealing products.
