Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Homeowners in Oregon sue over possible asbestos contamination

Homeowners at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon have filed a lawsuit against the federal government and former owners of the place for possible asbestos contamination.

The owners association at Sunriver filed a complaint last month that asbestos was found after one of the buildings was demolished. The siding, floor tiles, ceilings and walls were all contaminated with asbestos and are now buried underneath the ground. The Department of Environmental Quality has stepped in to help the company remove over 1,500 pounds of toxic material.

An additional $3 million is expected to be spent to remove all of the material. Asbestos is not dangerous unless it is disturbed. Once disturbed it becomes airborne and can lodge in the lung later causing lung cancer and other asbestos-related diseases.
