Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Asbestos found in Eagle Picher building in New Mexico

In New Mexico, asbestos may have been found in a building where Eagle Picher Carefree Battery Co. makes batteries and circuit boards.

Besides the discovery of asbestos it may also have been found that lead-based paints were used in building. Authorities are concerned that the community may have been exposed to asbestos.

If asbestos is disturbed, it can be inhaled and lodge into a person’s lungs and can cause cancers such as mesothelioma. The EPA has said that a long-term cleanup will be taking place at the site.
