Couple names 37 companies as defendants in asbestos lawsuit

A couple from Jefferson, Kentucky has filed an asbestos lawsuit and named 37 defendants that they claim are responsible for the man’s development of lung cancer.

The couple claims that the defendants are responsible for the diagnosis because they exposed the man to asbestos. The man worked for the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. He also worked for multiple coal strip mines in Kentucky and Charleston.

According to the lawsuit, the defendants did not provide the appropriate protective wear or equipment that needs to be used when dealing with asbestos. Asbestos is a toxic material when it is disturbed because it can lodge insuide a person’s lungs and cause certain types of cancer.
