Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

City wants asbestos check done before purchasing Elks Lodge

Asbestos concerns have lead city officials to delay the purpose of Elks Lodge in order to see if the cost to take care of the building will be too high or not.

City commissioners want to purchase the building as a part of the revitalization project of the downtown marina.

The city manager has put off purchasing the building for $290,000 until tests have been run on the building to determine whether or not the building has asbestos and how much it has. Demolition of the building is supposed to cost nearly $17,000 and if asbestos is found, additional fees will be needed to remove it properly.

Asbestos can be very dangerous if disturbed because it can then be inhaled into the lungs. If you or a loved one has been exposed to asbestos during a renovation project, contact us for more information about the toxic material or visit our web site at to answer your questions.
