Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

City of Beloit settles asbestos lawsuit

An asbestos lawsuit against the city of Beloit, Wis. has now been settled and the city will pay $270,000 as a result.

A man sued the city in 2009 when he claimed that the city did not discuss asbestos problems in a building that the company had purchased 1998. The building was previously owned by the city and was a public-works office.

The city provided a letter to the man that stated that the building was cleared of asbestos before it was bought. In 2008, the man found asbestos in the building. The city agreed to pay the money in order to settle the allegations. Asbestos is known to be the primary cause of a rare lung disease, mesothelioma.
