Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

How does Mesothelioma occur?

Mesothelioma is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects a part of the lung called the mesothelium, a thin layer that protects the lung.

At this time, there is no cure to mesothelioma and it does not usually respond to standard cancer treatments. Clinical trials are underway at this time and have resulted in several cases of victims reaching remission.

The primary cause of mesothelioma is breathing in asbestos particles. Symptoms of this cancer do not usually show up until at least 20 years after a person is exposed to the toxic material. Symptoms can even remain dormant for up to 50 years.
