Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Janelle Bedel succumbs to mesothelioma

Thirty-seven-year-old Rushville, Indiana resident Janelle Bedel, dubbed “Wonder Woman” by the community and her friends and family, died on June 19 after a six-year struggle against mesothelioma, a deadly cancer that affects the internal organs, including the lungs and the heart.

The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization recognized her “commitment to education, advocacy, and support to patients and families around the world” with the 2014 Alan Reinstein Award and commended her for her national campaign efforts to raise awareness and push for research funds for mesothelioma. She also pushed for the U.S. to ban the use of asbestos, a toxic material used in several industries including construction, shipbuilding, metalworking, mining, among others, that is purported to cause mesothelioma

Her cause also earned her accolades from Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly.
