Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Natural asbestos fibers found in Southern Nevada

A group of geologists from the University of Nevada have discovered natural asbestos fibers in the southern part of Nevada, an article from the Law Vegas-Review Journal stated on December 25. The possibly toxic minerals were found in the rocks and dusts in Boulder City going to Las Vegas Valley.

The discovery of the natural asbestos in the area was a breakthrough according to geology professor Brenda Buck. Professor Buck got asbestos fibers on her shoes and pants after riding her horse for several hours in Boulder City. Fellow geologist Rodney Metcalf, who does not want to down play the asbestos discovery issue, said that Boulder City is situated in a place where asbestos minerals developed million of years ago.

Being exposed to asbestos fibers can cause life-threatening respiratory illnesses, among other problems. To learn more about this dangerous substance and/or get support if you have been exposed to it, fill out the form on this page.
