Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Malignant pleural mesothelioma treatment option discovered in Vienna

Researchers in Vienna have discovered another option for treating malignant pleural mesothelioma, an article of News Medical reported on October 24.

According to reports, the rare type of cancer could be treated with the chemotherapy drug trabectedin. Researchers from Vienna General Hospital and the Comprehensive Cancer Center of MedUni Vienna found evidence of trabectedin’s effectiveness using an animal model and cell culture. There are approximately 90 malignant pleural mesothelioma cases in Austria every year, and many more will continue to suffer from the disease. The findings of the researchers were published in the journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

Asbestos exposure is often linked to malignant pleural mesothelioma and it is usually fatal in nature. Though there are treatment options available, they are often expensive, but an attorney can work for you to help you earn compensation for the costs.
