Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Canadian government urging total asbestos ban

Government officials in Canada recently announced they will take action to prevent asbestos from entering the country because the mineral has been linked to fatalities in the workplace, a report of CBC News stated on December 7.

Reports revealed that since 2011 Canada no longer exported asbestos and shut down asbestos mining the following year. However, the country went from importing $4.7 million worth of asbestos in 2011 to importing $8.2 million worth of asbestos four years later. Canadian Labour Congress President Hassan Yussuff reported the government is now fully aware of asbestos hazards, so they are acting to totally eradicate asbestos.

Asbestos is known to be a popular mineral due to its fire retardant properties and durability. However, it can cause fatal mesothelioma cancer if its fibers go airborne and enter the lungs.
