Mesothelioma or Asbestos Question?

Widows awarded millions for their husbands’ suffering

The widows of two workers who died of asbestos-related cancer will both get millions worth of remunerations for all the suffering their husbands experienced, the New York Daily News reported on July 7.

In the ruling by an appellate court, the widows of Ronald Dummit and Dave Konstantin were granted $8 million each. Both of their husbands died of mesothelioma cancer caused by asbestos exposure. The contractor firm that they worked for was found to be aware of asbestos hazards without alerting workers who may be exposed. Dummit reportedly inhaled asbestos fibers while working on old ship boilers, while Konstantin assisted in the construction of the Olympic Tower when he was exposed to the harmful mineral fibers.

Individuals who have been exposed to asbestos are at risk of dying from mesothelioma cancer or other asbestos-related diseases. When negligent firms fail to protect employees from exposure, they can be held liable for any suffering or costs incurred.
